The highest magnification macro I took so far
Posted By: rrstuff, 11-05-2014, 07:04 PM

These are bubbles on bleach mixed with a salt solution. Taken on a microscope with 50x magnification and an attached olympus 5060 WZ.

For you youngsters out there - records (you know the vinyl kind) weren't made - they were grown just like this.

that's interesting. Vinyl's were 'grown'? As in crystalized? I assumed they were moulded. Could you post a link?

I think you may be right, and my comment was because that is what this image made me think of.

See, I started wondering if it was grown like a silicon wafer, but it made no sense to me, since it's a relatively easy polymer to mold. I even started to look for it briefly but had some work to do so I stopped before going on a multi-hour journey on learning how were polyvinyl polymers molded in the mid-last century.

I just play records - I have never tried to make one! The '78's were fun. Made from a much more brittle bakelite type material.

I like the idea of brittle records. I could say that I used to break all sorts of records in my youth.

Wow, great job. How short was the working distance, and how did you light them? Looks really pleasing
