That, my friend, is truth. And it was awful to try and get her still. She wanted to touch the flashes, the backdrop, kept looking at the hair light, went to get toys... She just wouldn't sit still, the AF had a very hard time tracking her!

Always a good idea to have a few props handy to keep their focus....and to take the time to win them over and be their friend before you shoot......

Yes, props are useful, but she wanted to play with them...

given that she's my daughter, I had no problems with becoming her friend
