Miss the big island...would be greeat to be down in Pahoa shooting photos of the lava flow right now....

We've been down there a couple of times recently, but the flow is mainly on private property and the Civil Defense folks are keeping rubberneckers out of there, for good reason! Might have to sneak down some night and see what I can get!

just sent you a message about that on another post....you can definitely find a way through.....Pahoa town itself is worth exploring....and capturing in the final moments before...it is reclaimed by Pele......even if you dont get the lava itself, getting the last shots of the town as it is will nice documenting...and I am sure even if you cant get the flow front, you can trace it back and find images along the back trail of the lava worth capturing...but as you say, with respect for the locals and the island, not in a rubbernecking sort of way....
