Excellent is the word, for sure. The first one is especially captivating.

Have they already shown up where you are?
Here, they haven't yet, and the Gyrfalcons either.

Yes they start being seen just north of Montreal... pretty early this year! Maybe the preys (lemmings) are scarce up north that's why they go down south early I guess

Beauties!

We had one here a week ago (about a 2hr drive north of Toronto), which also seemed early. Last year was pretty crazy for Snowies, maybe we're in for another good year.

I did not put this one at first, but I think you might like it... I think they do that when they want to regurgitate the pellets (remnants of small preys they ate)

That's strange.

We usually start seeing them here, males first, around this time of the year, but that is when there is a severe blast of cold air/front slipping south from the arctic.
Then the females start arriving about two to three weeks later.

If you have them already in the near-Montreal area, that means that there is some heavy cold weather up North.
Watching the latest meteo forecasts, I can see that indeed there is such a "low" hanging down way south.

Excellent photos. Really quite wonderful.

In the southern Manitoba area, a couple of snowy white owls have recently made their appearance. The Great Gray and Northern Hawk Owls should be on their way shortly. I've got my Sigma 150-500 ready to go.

Excellent shots with a excellent lens as well. How do you normally handle that big lens...and in the snow as well...;-)

Thanks !
The big lens was on a tripod (gitzo GT5541XL) + Wimberley Gimbal, but that was not evident to pan on the flying owl (lots of missed), and it's hard to go very high
I have to get a sturdy monopod next time... or a video head (I just ordered a Benro S8 pro to test it against flying birds)

and the last one was with the F* 300mm, handheld
