I had to manual focus the lens because SDM did not work (I got the lens at a very low price because of the dead SDM -since repaired). It is handheld because most of my photography is while hiking and I am just to lazy to carry a tripod.

I understood the reasons, what I meant was just that you have reached an excellent level, at least it would be impossible for me to do this, even if I know in theory what to do.
