You can add sharpness n post but that wont make up for any lack of sharpness in the lens...you put it to good use as GildedFool said....and thanks for some more inspiration....now I know what to shoot today...off to the Greek churches.......and BW, as inspired by Bob Harris' great prison shot.....

That is an excellent image. You capture the image with the tools that you have at hand. The kit lens is a good lens - its a good 80% solution.
