Napoli, my city.
Posted By: flaviopetrone, 11-09-2014, 01:42 PM

My first good camera was a smartphone. It was great mainly because it was always with me. I have thousands of pictures I have taken by it, and I'm not talking about family/friends/vacations... Just pictures for the fun to take pictures. I tried to improve myself day by day. This serie was taken almost 2 years ago, with a Sony Xperia Arc S (not a great camera at all), when I went back to Napoli for few days to my family, and completely edited using Snapseed on my Android phone.

The city was surreal, usually it is full of people in the day and the night, but some circumstances (a demonstration made the police close this area, the storm suddenly took a break) helped me to have a "different" view of the city.
I'm happy with these pictures and I would like to hear your comments, good or bad as they are, I will appreciate them!

Yes, I was born in Napoli but moved in Reggio Emilia since 2008. If this guy has a blog/website, point me there, please.

Ciao Flavio, this is a great series!li
My favorite is the one of the stairs, great texture, highlights and composition. And also the sixth one. As you say, it looks surreal. No people at all. Thatīs the Adriatic, right?

I plan to be in Napoli in arround 2 weeks, maybe you can host me

Regards from Argentina,
Francisco
Sorry for the late answer, Francisco, I have missed your reply.

It is Tyrrhenian Sea, Napoli is in south West Italy. The Adriatic sea is on the east coast.

I can't host you because I moved in the North of Italy some years ago.

You will have fun, mainly because you will see a lot of things that are unique in the world. Napoli as been influenced by a lot of different cultures, but everything arrives in Napoli gets Napolized, so... Everything is unique.
If you go for vacancies, December is the best moment (for me), not very cold since the temperature never goes under 6/8 degrees and there is an area called San Gregorio Armeno that is VERY interesting in Christmas. Try to Google it.
For every need, just text me, I can help you.

My friend/model knows that man. It is incredible, I think it is something like 1 possibility over a million!
She met him in a dinner with friends 3/4 years ago, he was with his girlfriend.
Anyway, I just wanted to tell you because it sounded to me almost incredible.

I really liked the low point of view for the stairs and the contrasty marina shot. All in all a great series.

it doesnt sound incredible to me, if you know Lazzaro, he is a big character....and for some reason I saw something in your photography, your way of telling dtory, that reminded me of his art.....so I am not surprised after all there would be a connection....actually this photo I posted is of him... https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/12-post-your-photos/277058-people-american-junkyard.html

You have the eye of an artist. Buy a good camera and a couple of lenses and start shooting!

I concur, completely! This series is quite good, and #3 is magnificent! It conveys the storm in a very dramatic way! Show us more of your country, please. So interesting, especially for those of us who have only read about it and seen photos, never having had the pleasure of visiting.

Thank you very much for your flattering words Dewman! (Google translator says "flattering" as a good word, I'm not sure, but please take it for good )
I like the way the photography can trasmit much more than a simple image...
Actually, I can show you more from Italy, not much more from Napoli, since I started with the photography when I already moved in Reggio Emilia.
Anyway, I'm going to share a lot of pictures in the next days... Stay tuned!
