Big Wild Goose Pagoda (7 imgs)

More pics from my trip to China.
K100D + DA 16-45mm

The Buddist Temple, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda is a well-preserved ancient building and a holy place for Buddhists. Located in the ancient city of Xian and originally built in 652 during the reign of Emperor Gaozong of the Tang Dynasty (618-907), it functioned to collect Buddhist manuscripts that were taken from India by the hierarch Xuanzang.

Xian is one of the most important cities in Chinese history. Xian was one of the ancient capital cities of China and was the capital for 13 Chinese dynasties. Xian was the beginning of the Silk Road and was as big and prosperous as Rome in ancient times.

Great series Frank.
Looks like the 16-45 got a fair bit of use...?
How close were you to the earthquake area?, poor buggers, my heart goes out to them.

I love number 6 Frank, I don't know what it is, you know, sometimes a picture just feels right when you look at it.
Hope you don't mind but I cropped it on the left hand side up to the edge of the flower and I liked it that way, there's a nice curve going from bottom right corner and finishing top left corner.
I guess it's just one of those pictures you can crop any way you like and the feeling about it stays.
Hell, you could probably print it off, screw it up and stick it to the wall with chewing gum and I'd still have the same feeling about it.

Thanks Gary,
I have to admit, #6 is also my favorite from the series. And maybe you are right, a little crop on the left would indeed be an improvment.

The Big Wild Goose Pagoda was a very peaceful place to visit. In some areas, you could smell burning incense, which really added something to the experience. The Golden Budda in the garden was a very unique and special place.
