I was wondering... why is i called goosenecks, why is it called goosenecks???

Oh, duh.

Nice job! Although I wouldn't have known it was dawn other than the title, seems a bit bright.
Was this a hiking photo?

Because the river has created a winding canyon which forms S shapes like a goose neck. Yes it was at the beginning of a hiking trip. The light and shadows are very typical of what we see shortly after dawn.
