Birds in flight
Lens: Pentax 55-300 Camera: K5 Photo Location: Saugus Ma.

I liked Normhead's series of chickadees in flight and thought that I would try to get some in flight captures as most of my bird postings have been of perched birds.I had to shoot through the kitchen window but was semi-pleased with the results.Next time I'll slide the window down.----charliezap

Oh man, you really have me itching to get out the dorms and move back home to try to get shots like these. For shooting through a kitchen window, these are really good shots! 1,2, and 5 are my favorites. What was the ISO and shutter speed?

Here's the info- 1 & 2 were 1/1000-f/5.6 @800ISO #5 was 1/2000 f/6.3 @800 ISO.
For your info--Hummingbirds are easier to photograph than birds. They have no fear and you can take shots with flash from only feet away. The flash fires in 1/25,000 sec. and can stop the 80 per sec wing beating of the h-bird.This shot was 1/100 sec-f/10-ISO200 @77mm from 3 ft away.--charliezap

Good stuff! I really like the composition in the second to last. It's a winner.

They are a challenge to capture but if you take enough of them you'll get a keeper or two.--charliezap

some good captures charlie, the last shot processed that way I find appealing, not generally a big fan of this type of thing but this one is very good. I like it!
