I like the sharp contrast in the whiskers next to the creamy void of the bokeh.

This picture reminds me when there was a questionnaire about interest in a Photography Course on the inside of a matchbook cover. I answered the ad, then took a quiz. One of the questions was which photo was correct, the one showing head and shoulders of a person or the one tightly cropped cutting off part of the head. Their answer was the full bust. Someone actually showed up at my studio to point this out to me and ask if I wanted to take the course. I could not even carry a conversation with the gentleman just thinking he took time out of his busy day to tell me I was wrong. I don't think so. Your photograph is great, showing the character of the subject. If it were a full bust, it would just have been another portrait.
