Friendly Mantis Drops By

Walked into my office yesterday evening and there was a Praying Mantis on the inside of the screen door.
I mentioned it to a Kirby vacuum salesman working on the rug in my house, he is Japanese and said it was considered a sign of good luck if one showed up at your place.

I wanted to take some photos but I had a conference call to cover so I carefully scooped it up, brought it inside and closed the door.
During my call I watched it climb around on the walls a bit then lost track of it so it took me a while to locate it up on a shelf when my call was done.

I found a stick that I could set him on for a photo shoot but he preferred to climb up my arm than stay on the stick.
Each time I walked by he would wave his claws at me as if asking for me to pick him up.

I wanted to do a fisheye shot but every time I got close with the Q and 03 he just climbed up on it.

I reverted instead to the DFA100 on the Q7 and was able to step back to let him relax and get some shots while it groomed.
After we were all done I placed it on a hibiscus bush outside. I did not find it after a quick look this morning but they hide well.

Here are some shots with the Q7+100, and the best of the blurry shots with the Q+03 at the end.

what a great adventure in your office and no one can accuse you of not having a camera handy. Great shots, he reminds me of those great Sci Fi movies I saw as a kid, way up close and in your face.
