Here's one of my better, to date, shots with my K100D. Tell me what you think.

Take Care!

That's a great shot of a very nice looking watch! I like the composition... the dial in the lower left-hand corner and the ring (?) add to the image without detracting attention. Very nicely lit too.

If I may nitpick, something's causing a slight loss of detail in the extreme right third of the glass on the watchface. It's either a smudge or flare from reflected light.

Also, the framing appears to be a *little* too much. I would personally prefer a simple and visually light frame for such a subject. However, this is entirely a subjective thing so please take this comment for what you think it's worth.

Nice work! Thanks for sharing.

This photo is like a studio shot - professionally done.

Definitely a few layering and soft light involved ?

It certainly makes the time piece elegant and extravagant. Making viewers envy filled with desire !

I really like the photo but I also like the frame job you did. I'm slowly trying to learn that in Photoshop. Good job.

Thanks guys for all of the positive comments. I'm fairly new to the D-SLR and Photoshop Elements 5.0, but I love them both thus far.

Nixarma - Yes, I noticed the glare on the upper part of the subject watch. I actually post-processed it off, but it didn't look natural. Again, still learning. I actually threw this together on the dining room table one afternoon and started shooting. Thanks for the C&C! That's how I'll learn.

Roentarre - I went back and checked, and actually the only layer was for the frame and the bevel. I didn't apply any type of photo layer on this shot and the only external light source I used was the built in pop-up with a piece of tissue paper covering it as a diffuser. Wife hasn't let me by the 5-series flash yet.

Hmcfly - Thanks! The frame is actually several saved flat layers in elements 5.0 as I didn't think I needed CS2 right out of the box. I was pushing it to get the camera and 2 lenses. It took me awhile to figure out how to do this and get the same results others are in CS2. I'll be glad to e-mail you the steps I did to get these. By no means an expert at this, but if I can help anybody, I'm more than willing to try.

Thanks again to all the comments. I look forward to sharing more of my "play time" with you all.

I really like the photo itself, sharp, vivid, nice smooth metal finish on the textured, contrasty background. Frame though - to be honest with you (nice work) but I find it a little distractive for this image.

Regards,
D

Thanks D. I've had mixed reviews about the frame, so here's the next part of this post - Frame suggestions from the group? I'll then go back and entertain some of them and post.

Thanks!
