Do you have any idea what your f-stop was here? I notice that it was pretty high (16) on "My Sled Dog" -- maybe this is the secret to sharpness with this lens?

After referring back to my original image, it was f:11. I tend to shoot most of my photos at that aperture because of the nice bokeh the lens provides.... and of course, the sharpness. Here are a couple more samples of this lens' close-up ability and the bokeh at f:11. My DOF is off slightly on the butterfly, but the antenna is quite sharp. The flower was at f:32. As I said, perhaps the sharpness I obtain is because of using a monopod or tripod almost exclusively and having obtained an unusually sharp copy. I have rifles that are odd like that, in that they will shoot just about any bullet at any bullet seating depth, using any powder with any primer and will still put five shots inside 1/2" at 100 yards. Few rifles are like that, as most target shooters will tell you. If you ever come upon a rifle such as that, hang onto it.... they are very few and far between. In my 50 years of shooting, I'm lucky to have found two!

Thank you for your kind comments and interest.

A fellow shooter in the forum! I lilke the composition on the monochrome picture. A very dynamic look. I also like the second flower shot. Nice framing and great colours.

A shooter.... ah yes. For many years. I've long since given up killing animals, but now prefer to punch holes in paper from extreme ranges. Thank you for the kind comments on the photos. The Tamron has proven to be one of my best lenses and it is always at the ready on one of my cameras.
