An Illegal Image
Posted By: Dr Orloff, 11-18-2014, 05:15 AM

One of these is illegal. Any ideas why (without resorting to Google)?

Thanks. It was ISO100 and three seconds. It's a manual lens so no f stop recorded.

They are my minors so I am allowed to photograph them, although they have become very unwilling to be photographed. I have a lovely collection of grumpy daughter images.
Me, too ... and sometimes I can get all my grumpy three (daughters) in the same frame !

First you have parents who don't support your passion, then you have kids who don't support your passion... you do have a couple of good years in between though.

Merci, norm.

Now about that silly French copyright law(s) ... I would venture that it is only applicable if commercial use is made of a similar image.

I think that such copyright laws go a bit too far many a time ... like here.

99% unenforceable upon 99% of the earth.

No googling needed here, the towers lights are a copyright oddity that I've seen mentioned a few times. I love the little star burst near the bottom right of this one, a small detail that adds a nice balance.

It infringes copyright to photograph them when they are illuminated
I thought there was a laser at the top, that rotated like a lighthouse.

Not just me then, that's reassuring at last.

I still have some left from when mine were teenagers... grumpy teenage daughter images are "the thing" apparently.
My "grumpy daughters" now have their own grumpy daughters; karma can be downright amusing.

Nice pictures!

But the law is baffling. Apparently it's common in Europe to copyright buildings (the Tower itself used to be copyrighted, but now it is in the public domain). How does that even make sense? A friend of mine is French and once said "What you call common sense directly contradicts what can be seen in France." Maybe he was talking about this....

Sounds like a "cunning plan", let us know how you get on with that one.
