Pelican Pete
Lens: DA* 60-250 Camera: K5IIs Photo Location: Casa MelRay, Playa Potrero, Costa Rica

One of my favorite beach activities is to watch the Pelicans. I am amazed on how graceful they can be and the sheer speed of when they dive for fish. I am amazed they don't break their necks every time. Here are a few shots hope you enjoy.

These bring back my youth, when white pelicans used to stop to refuel across the Nikomekl River from out house in southwestern BC. What fascinates me as much as their diving ability is the way they use thermals to gain altitude, just coating in circles, higher and higher.

Indeed I love it how the glide just above the waters surface , always waiting for a wave to take them out

Really good clarity and composition on these! They're fabulous! Were you shooting handheld? Impressive to get that kind of sharpness at the full 250 mm.
