Yes I feel you - I've been in astrophotography only four years now. I'm not always 100% sure which is which but in this one I'd say it was a meteor! Never seen anything as bright and as fast as that one (meteor) in this photo - that "flight" took something like two seconds (max) from the beginning to the end! So it can't be a satellite. And as I said, that was amazingly bright one! Asked the same thing from the Ursa (
Tähtitieteellinen yhdistys Ursa: English) and they believed it's meteor too! so I'm pretty sure of this!
Exposure was 10s, ISO 3200, f/2.8 and 17mm. Lens was Tamron 17-50/2.8 with the K-5 II body. And thanks!!
If you are still on the forum, you'll see this VERY late response....if not, oh well.
I just got around to reading your response to my question from 4 years ago? But, you answered and removed any doubt about my wondering if it might be a satellite. If it only took 1 or 2 seconds, then it definitely was a shooting star, it couldn't have been a satellite or space station, they can take up to a minute or more to traverse the sky.
I guess you were timing the exposure to capture the aurora, but that was one very lucky, and very good accidental addition to your original photo intention!
