Border Opinions?
Posted By: vroom_skies, 05-20-2008, 11:19 PM

Hey there you guys.
I've decided to join your group over here, I'm escaping from a 'not so nice' forum that I wont mention. However one member from over there was kind enough to gear me to this safe haven.

So that brings me to my first post.

I'd like to get some opinions on this border.
Such as, the text (this is prob not my final font), colors, size, overall layout etc.

Thanks for the help,
Bob

I love the serenity of that second shot! Just lovely!

And, I feel your borders and text are quite effective... simple and professional. I also enjoy that there is no border on the sides.

Welcome to the forum!

Welcome
I like the font, and simplicity. I think the "no side borders" works on the landscape oreintation, but makes the portrait one look like it has had the sides trimmed off - it looks incomplete.

P.S. I also love the scond photo!

Totaly agree. Second picture rocks, and the border definitely works better with landsape orientated shots

Font is nice. I like it. My girlfriend uses them on her photos as well.

The waterscape shot is my favourite of the two. I am fond of dusk shots.

I would personally lose the top border and just go with the bottom part.

Cheers

I don't much care for borders, but for presentation I tend to use plain white for colour and black for B&W and no text. I cant really agree with others on the font, as I prefer a much more simple font like Segoe UI, Helvetica Neue, or GE Inspira. I do give you credit for trying something a bit different with the overly unbalanced border width, I haven't seen that before. I don't much care for the white 'pin stripe' though as I dont like to include anything that could possibly distract from the photo. here is a quick example of what I would do if I were to use borders and text... not that you would much care I suppose.

Another vote for the landscape here. Ditto what bonovox said.

Second picture is 100% on the spot!

First needs some work on the border...

I second this opinion. Works landscape, but not portrait. At least with the subject matter at hand.

Would you guys mind throwing together some examples of what you think would work for the portrait shot?

Thanks
Bob

I like the borders. Of course, I like borders in general. They do tend to look better in landscape than in portrait (orientation, not subject).

Don't be too fooled by this site. It has it's share of trolls too. When people get banned at the other site they tend to come here. That said, it is much better than the other place and I'm sure you will love it here.
