Auroras over the Pikku-syöte
Lens: Sigma 18-35/1.8 Camera: K-5 II Photo Location: Finland ISO: 3200 Shutter Speed: Above 6s Aperture: F1.8
Posted By: Stickl, 11-29-2014, 02:35 PM

Photo taken in a local ski resort (Iso-syöte). There are two different ski resorts so the other one is situated some kilometers away from this one. I had dreamed something like this - to get a photo where the nature can show how huge it really is. So (especially amazing) northern lights was a natural choise for that kind of photo and the little ski resort "city" was another good one cause of its size and the situation. Two photos, a panorama photo taken with K-5 II and Sigma 18-35/1.8. 13s, f/1.8, ISO 1600 and 18mm.

Fantastic! Getting good shots of the northern lights is hard. I came accross some nice ones in Iceland but my results are not as great as this!

Awesome! I suppose that's an advantage of shooting landscapes in finland, it's flat :P

The "lights" never seem to be as colourful here, a great shot well captured.

Nice shot. I have seen the Auroras once here in Vaasa. Have never been to lapland so hope to be there someday and hopefully get a spectacular display.

I agree Finland is way too flat. Sucks taking Landscapes. And the grey weather is doesnt help either. I was in norway last year and the landscape was amazing.

Jyvakylä is not flat though. At least you can get some good cityscape if you are able to get the right spot.

It's more dramatic, sure (and don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of the big spiky mountains, both for photographing and skiing), but try to take a gorgeous landscape pano like this, and the mountains are in the way! I love this shot because you can seemingly see for ever and ever (all the way to Norway and the big spiky mountains :P)

Oh no how bad luck you've had! I've seen auroras at least in 120 different days so.. it's not always fair.
Yes I know that, and I'm happy of that!
Thank you!
