Golden Water Skink
Lens: DA*300 f4 Camera: K5iis Photo Location: Canberra, Australia ISO: 50

The Golden Water Skinks where I grew up in Sydney were usually smaller but more golden than this one. It's still a pretty lizard! I love the results I get from the DA*300, although it was hunting a lot today. I'm hoping that the K3 will resolve that issue to some degree... Correction, it's a Southern Water Skink (Eulamprus tympanum) not a Golden Water Skink. Another species I didn't know we had around here!

Yes, this one is quite big! But very nice colours and pattern, and you nailed that focus! Great lens, and you used it well here

Thanks! It seems that it may be a Southern Water Skink, but I will confirm. Glad my memory hasn't failed me, only my reference book! I'm wondering if my camera battery is contributing to the hunting issue. It dropped from three bars to one in the space of an hour.

With digital cameras, the batteries can cause all sorts of things. Its worth it to invest in batteries. Hope you get it sorted out and have an easier time "hunting" for these little guys

I'll go back to the other battery - fortunately I have two. Since I'm in the process of ordering a tripod, I may order a battery as well - except that I have just found out that B&H have an issue with their website when paying with Paypal.
