Thanks, unfortunately to get the dof required (F22), flash was an essential requirement.

But I thought in the end it added a Christmas feel to the image.

Wow, that looks so magical. The pine-cones kind of look like little mushrooms. I love it.

Thanks, I'm not sure if it's not birds that do this to the cones, to maybe get the seeds or something.

The stalk bit of the "mushroom" is the internal support of the cone, of which there's nearly a complete version on the left hand third.
