Snowdrifts
ISO: 50
Posted By: jac, 12-07-2014, 02:46 PM

Just a few older shots of snowdrifts, converted with Silver Efex Pro2. The tracks are Arctic fox; they cover every square foot of territory when food is scarce.

It seems a arctic wasteland yet there is life! (Maybe even te much life in the summer with the mosquitos?) Those snowdrifts have a hypnotic beauty to them (especially when the snow drifts over an edge) and you caught that well!

Thanks Fries. We see tracks much more often than the animals themselves - they are few and far between.

Appreciate the kind words. Thanks.
Each one of the types of snow here would have a different name in Inuktitut but it's getting to a point where only the elders would know them all.

They're actually more interesting in B&W, given all the contrasts. Thanks Ted

A wonderful set--the last, especially, I find mesmerizing. For some reason, I often find that animal tracks have a "presence" more powerful than if it were standing there in the flesh...
