Magical auroras and shooting star
Lens: Tamron AF 17-50mm F2.8 XR Di-II LD Camera: K-5 II Photo Location: Finland ISO: 800 Shutter Speed: Above 6s Aperture: F2.8

August's northern lights (which are always magical) and the shooting star. It's such a rare thing to see northern lights in August. Despite the fact that it's not easy to see and photograph auroras in august I did it more than twice in this year! Let me show this one from the early (aurora) season.

Any comments would be highly appreciated!

That's phenomenal, especially with the shooting star. Lucky coincidence? How long of an exposure was this?

Well done. Aurora photos like this make me jealous of those who live in northern latitudes. Then winter comes along and I'm glad I'm only 40 degrees north.

Really awesome. It is my mission to see the aurora myself one day.

Thank you!

From what I remember it might be 13s exposure, pure luck withing capturing that shooting star! Photographing lots of astropics will help you to get shots like this

Thanks!!
Well I live in a town which is located at a latitude of 65° so it's just perfect place to see northern lights in august - while a last half of the month we have something like six hours darkness and it's enough and we are not too south for auroras.. tho we don't have as much northern lights as in lapland but we do have enough, almost every night if the sky is clear etc. Just perfect conditions for seeing northern lights in august!
