You're right about the tailhook. This plane was definitely not designed for carrier ops, so the tailhook is an oddity. Great plane though. I remember them flying over my house with that distinctive whistling sound. Memories...

Thanks. A remarkable plane indeed, albeit a diificult one to master. It was also called the "widow maker" due to high accident rates.
