My son plopped his dog, Cash, on my stool so I clicked a few shots before she got bored and jumped down.

Thanks for the comments. Cash is actually quite a handful. She's sweet, but has more energy than a herd of over-caffinated hummingbirds. I was surprised that she actually sat there for almost a minute - that's an eternity for her.

Well, not too much of a mystery (hopefully). Actually, things were set up for a portrait sitting I had been doing the previous day when I was fooling around with lighting. There is a black background hanging, with one (partially dimmed) overhead light, and one softbox about 5 feet to the left of the camera, about 8 feet or so from the stool. The camera (a K-7 for now, until someone would like to get me a new K-3 for Christmas) was set on manual, and spot exposure. f 3.2 aperture and 1/200 shutter.
