of this bird? I know it's a swallow but I looked up barn swallows and they have rust colored throats.
Taken with my new DA* 300/4.
1/800 sec f/5.6 ISO400
100% crop

Possibly a Tree Swallow.

Here is a link to an image - copyright is pretty strict so I won't reproduce -

Thanks Kim. Yeah, it's been flooding bad. It all started last weekend when the temps soared into the high 80's. I went up on the Cd'A river and took a lot of pics but haven't posted very many yet. I may run back up there or possibly check out the St Joe tomorrow. The sun was out for awhile this morning but rained this afternoon, mild temps.
Since I got this lens I thought I'd run back out to this place today and shoot these guys and the bluebirds. This spot is really where my longing for a long lens originated. I took a bunch this time last year with the Sigma 70-300 and I was never satisfied with the results. This lens is quite a step up.
On top of that this may be a "lucky" lens! Which is very important:-). I wasn't there for a minute before I shot a coyote out in the open (very lucky), then a turkey, then the swallows and bluebirds, I got a quick shot of a deer, some ospreys and a Red-Winged Blackbird. A pretty cool morning, all in all.

Thank you Kris:-).
I think I really got lucky here.
I believe the female in the center to be a first year female, reproductively mature but she hasn't grown into her mature attire yet.

I'll just post these here.
Coyotes are not well liked around here and in fact there is a $40 bounty on them.

They are mangy creatures, this is an extreme crop.

These pics were taken by this little creek that drains Kelso Lake. It's a marshy kind of area and the coyote was probably down there looking for an easy gosling meal. I was hoping for some geese pics also, but didn't see any today, usually they are thick here.

Nice capture. What makes it even more interesting to me is that these birds are always on the move and when they come to rest it is usually only telephone wires.

This is really nice in that it is a natural capture.
