December Waterfalls - 2/3
Lens: FA 28, FA 50, DA 35, DA 70 Camera: K-5 Photo Location: East Tennessee ISO: 50

While returning from a meeting in West Tennessee, had a few moments to visit one of our newer Tennessee State Parks. Cummins Falls is rated as one of the top 10 swimming holes in the US, and is now cared for by our State Park system. Here's a view from the overlook - just a short hike from the parking lot.

Hiking to the base of the falls used to be downright dangerous. But the Cummins Falls State Park staff has worked hard to make a safe trail down to the stream, and then up to the falls. Here's a small falls along the way...

And a few views from just downstream of the main falls...

Hope you enjoyed the quick glimpse of Cummins Falls State Park, and that you'll have a chance to see it for yourself sometime soon!

A great set--that tawny strata in the "bowl" is worth the price of admission, I think.

CreationBear - Indeed some fascinating geology up on the plateau. And definitely more than worth the price of admission, since admission is free!!

Susan - You are too kind! Hope you get to visit here yourself someday. Park is north of Cookeville TN. Hike to the overlook is level and easy. Hike to the base of the falls not quite so easy, and not nearly as level...

That's a great series... and a great example of, improve your photography by walking around. You won't find the perfect spot if you don't go looking for it.

I miss waterfalls and mountains. Just don't have much of either here in East Texas.
