Lens: DA 300mm Camera: K-5 Photo Location: Huntington Beach, SC ISO: 50

I should get tired of shooting birds but I really enjoy it. I used the 1.4 TC with the 300mm also.

Hope you enjoy them too.

Nice!

It's hard to get tired of shooting birds. They're fun to watch, and getting a good picture of them is sometimes challenging because they're constantly moving.

Those are really nice.

I have this same set up: Pentax K5 + DA*300/4 and the new HD TC 1.4X ... at the end of the day I find the results " so - so " and the real keepers are less in numbers than when I use the gear without the TC.

You are right about the constant movement.

I know what you mean about the TC. Normhead does a great job with it. I am finding I need lots of sunlight to improve the keeper rate. Just got the K-3 and can't wait to see if that will make a difference but I suspect a lot of it has to do with the photographer though. I will keep trying because I really feel good when I pull one off.

Are you shooting handheld, or using a tripod?

I have tried using a tripod many times for bird shots but just can't do it. I use one for everything else.

Still haven't given the K-3 a tryout. Have had it for a few weeks but the weather is just too ugly to encourage photography especially in a town that is not particularly scenic to begin with. Heading to the Everglades next month and it will get a full workout then.
