So I finally found a Kenko Uniplus extension tube. They are called that because they have all the electronic contacts so that aperture, AF etc work with any enabled lens. To be trueful, AF is kinda useless in a macro situation, but the auto aperture is very handy. Anyway I thought I'd hook it up to my Tamron 90 macro to see what I could get. My first big disappointment is that you can only do macros with this set up, the lens won't focus more than about 1 to 1.5 feet away (.3 to .5M) I'm a good "hand holder" but the DOF is so amazingly thin that the setup pretty much requires a tripod. But it does get close! And there is no degradation in image quality or F stop loss. Over all despite those disappointments I'm quite happy with the results. Here are a couple of shots taken this morning, in bright early morning light which isn't the best of lighting. Both taken with the K10D, Tamron 90mm F2.8 macro, and the Kenko Uniplus 25mm extension tube.
