!2 Apostles
Camera:ISO: 50

Several views of part of the 12 Apostles formation along the Great Ocean Rd of Victoria's South West coastline. Access to the beach is via Gibson's Steps which are cut into the vertical cliff face.

A popular spot with tourists. Colourful even on a cloudy afternoon.

Two of the remaining sea stacks and what looks to be the remains of another.. Several have fallen over recent years. These are the only two which can be approached from the beach.

Closer view of one of the stacks with several seabirds roosting on top.

I wonder if this chap standing on top, knows about the crack opening up beneath his feet, I guess no. To get to this point he and his companion would have had to climb safety barriers.

You didn't get the "rock eating the man" shot then?

Interesting set of images, well captured.

Great shots Bruce. You seem to be having a bit of a walkabout.

Very nice shots, Bruce! I must find my slides from the first time I drove the Great Ocean Road. I've been back since but never had such nice weather again!

There used to be a formation nearby called "London Bridge". I visited the area and walked across London Bridge in 1989. I then drove to Canberra - only two days later I saw on the news that London Bridge had fallen down (pun intended). Some people had to be rescued by helicopter. It's a very active coastline!

Thanks Rob. I would be glad to see yours. I expect some features may have changed

They were lucky not to be on the span that fell. One or two of the Apostles have fallen since then. Fresh rock falls are always apparent.

I was lucky not to have been on the span that fell too! I found a couple of scanned photos; one of Loch Ard Gorge and one of the Twelve Apostles. I'll post them tonight. I'd like to find the other slides such as the one of London Bridge but that will take longer!
