The Watcher in the Woods
Lens: Super Takumar 200mm f4 Camera: K5 ISO: 800 Shutter Speed: 1/500s Aperture: F5

I only ever saw this fox the one time, fortunately I had a telephoto lens on the camera at the time. This was before I figured out to shoot in AV mode with m42 lenses so it ended up being underexposed. Shortly after the picture was taken my fool dog tried to chase him, thankfully he's too slow to catch anything.

Beautiful animal and I agree with Bruce that you did a good job under the circumstances.

Thanks! I was just happy to record the event, I suspect the fox just let me see him/her and was curious otherwise I would have just been oblivious.

It's close to square; 1.14:1. There was a distracting foreground tree to the right that I cropped out, although I like a square format from time to time.

I wouldn't worry about that exposure - I really like this shot just the way it is - it adds an air of mystery

Nice catch. It's a special thing when you see those wild animals in their own environment.
