Another Trip to the Sonoran Desert Museum
ISO: 50
Posted By: nomadkng, 01-10-2015, 03:45 PM

It took two weeks, but here's a couple photos from another Day Trip to the Sonoran Desert Museum. We went the day after Christmas and it was a good chance to test out my newest lens, the Sigma 50-150. It'll take a little getting used to HSM. I have the focus lock beep turned off, so everything is really quiet, to the point I thought the lens had stopped working a couple times....lol

Very nice! I really need to get down there, I used to love that place. Especially that second shot, the owl!

Great shots but there's something about the second one that draws me in. That's one of the best museums I've ever visited.

Thank you. Even though the birds were coaxes to land on various branches, it was a challenge to avoid backgrounds of brightly clothed onlookers or foregrounds of people insiting on raising their cell phones to get a pic...ugh

TY. I'm very thrilled with the 50-150 IQ. The images it produces are almost as good cropped as my Sigma 100-300 at 300mm un cropped. Really surprised me.

TY. Too bad we aren't all closer, could organize a "Carpool for a Day at the Museum". Sounds like a Chevy Chase/Ben Stiller movie....lol

The ocelot was about 40 feet from me through glass. Had to use GF as a sun block to keep the glare down. The image is about a 50% crop. Even through glass, I'm fairly happy with the result. Best ocelot shot I've gotten so far. They are tough critters to photograph.

TY. The settings on my camera were off by 12 hours somehow, so just add 12 to the EXIF data....lol
