When I was in China, one of our guides was a young woman. She told us that most of the young women in China want a BMW when they get married. We were a little confused until she told us that the BMW they want is not the German automobile. No, what most Chines brides say they want is a man that will Be My Wallet.

Shortly after I heard this story, we were going into our hotel one evening and there was a wedding reception at the hotel. The bride and groom were standing next to each other and welcoming their guests at the door. The first thing I though when I saw the couple was, "She's a pretty bride, and it looks like she got herself a BMW!"

My friends , mostly average working folks in the City (San Francisco to all other) told me :

BMW = Bike , Muni , Walk

Note : Muni = Local bus sytem .

It is an American tradition to take a photo of the best man with his back turned, the groom signing the marriage license on the best man's back, with the bride lifting the wallet out of her grooms back pocket. I have a shot like that in my over 25 year old wedding album and boy did I make a diabolical face while I was lifting. lol
