Lotus Flower

Unseasonal rain brought the lotus flowers out early. They don't last long in our hot dry climate so I thought I'd get in quick.

I popped down Saturday to take a peek and found the lotus pond to be a popular place with lots of people stopping for a look.

My take on the flowers can be found here: Post your Photos: Lotus Flowers

Thanks for posting. It was interesting to see what a K3 could do with the same subject in what seems to be similar lighting conditions.

There was some flash infill and some shade provided by a brolly held over the flower to lessen the intensity of the afternoon sun, as I find the Aussie summer sun can provide too much contrast and more reflective parts of petals tend to burn out.

You look like you had one of the heavy cloud days just after the rain???

You're right - it was overcast and just after 8am. I read a book on photography by Tom Ang a few years ago where he said that an overcast day provided the best light for flowers.
