I am an ecologist - it is my job to find such things.

I will post many more as I get around the neighbourhood. There is incredible frog diversity in Australia - many beautiful frogs to see and photograph.

The nights are very balmy at the moment - perfect for frog activity.

Common Toad (Bufo bufo) I suspect. Nice work, a pair in amplexus

Good idea for a thread, frogs are one of my favorite subjects. I'll humbly request people add the species name of their frogs if they know it, it's nice to put a name to the frog faces from around the globe

Great pictures! I look forward to adding to this thread. It is winter here in Delaware in the Mid-atlantic region of the US, but come late march spring should start to displace winter. Then, I expect the woodland pond in my back yard to come alive with frogs. Here is one of our common woodland frogs that I will see and hear. This is a wood frog and I believe this is the only frog that can be found north of the arctic circle.

Little young toad. Slightly cropped. Pentax M 40~80mm + 68mm extension, about 1,2x magnification.



Common toad. Hand held 1/15s. That moss was very wet! Not cropped.

Wow you really got us all hopping! Here is another frog photo as I wait for spring that I took last year. It is a common spring peeper on a hydrangea. It is one of North Americas smallest, but loudest frogs.

It might be a toad, but I've never seen one smaller.





Those are grains of sand.

As an Australian froggo I would guess this species is the Sierran Treefrog (Pseudacris sierra). I call on the North Americans to pitch in here

if you are in Southern Nevada then the species might be the Baja California Treefrog (Pseudacris hypochondriaca). I wonder if this species name suggest something about the frogs personality??

Norm, as a guess from another continent I suspect your frog might be the Green Frog (Rana clamitans). Do you know the species?

Cool. Otherwise known as Pseudacris crucifer. I feel we are going to see lots of different species. Can't wait for some Asian and South American additions.

I would say your toad is probably impossible to identify. Almost all meta-morphs are going to be that size, so it could be anything.
