Very cold here today but stayed out long enough to find this Downy Woodpecker trying to find some food.

Nice shot Tom, haven't seen one this winter yet, as a matter of fact we have hardly any birds at the feeder for the last 3 weeks or so. Oh, BTW today we sat on the deck in shirt sleeves, +18.5 C under clear blue sky, go figure it out.

Nice one, Tom. That little patch of red among the white, black and browns is a cool contrast.

Thanks for looking Jer,

I actually felt sorry for the little guy trying to jack-hammer some nourishment out of those frozen limbs.

Then I realized I was freezing and went home to warm up.
