Why I don't regret dropping 1200 bucks for my FA*200mm
Posted By: SouthShoreRob, 05-28-2008, 06:45 PM

As most of you who follow my posts know, I primarily bought this lens for indoor ice hockey, but in the back of my mind, I also knew it would be perfect for my sons' soccer games given the relatively similar size of the pitch. Here are a couple samples from tonight and just two more reasons why I don't regret - even for a sec - spending more on the lens than I did on the body (K10). If anyone out there is contemplating a similar purchase (DA* 200mm or 300mm) all I can say is GO FOR IT. You will not be disappointed.

Wow those are terrific. Very nice job capturing the action. Did you do any post processing?

If I had the coin I would buy the DA* 300mm in a heartbeat.

...and the DA* 50-135mm, and, and, and...

I don't have lens envy, already owning a Zeiss 200mm f2.8 that Gruoso was nice enough to sell me (thanks Gruoso, I still love it )

However I must say, those are excellent pic's Rob

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

To answer a couple of the response questions:

Yes dws, there is PP involved. First I use Bibble's Athentech perfect clear. I also like to use two other features one for highlights and the other for fill light. Next I use Photoshop to resize and finally sharpen before posting.

Yes Stephen, I am clamoring for the DA*300 as well. With another baby on the way, however, the photo budget is officially terminated.

Indeed Marc, this is my eldest son. Second year of soccer and smiling in every photo. Ditto for my younger boy.

Great shots, I’m planning for the DA*200/2.8 for the same reasons. Good for sports and outstanding IQ
