Yeah, quite some details. Great capture

p.s. maybe posting this in post a pic section rather than DSLR section?

Cheers

Me and my wife both were just talking about taking a shot tonight! That's really cool, and a great shot. What part of the UK are you from?

Quite good for handheld. I'm planning to make an attempt here in a bit.

Trog, you must have a steady hand . . . . I couldn't hand-hold a shot like this in a million years. I've seen a "rule of thumb" somewhere about photographing the moon - if I recall correctly, the "rule" called for setting a shutter speed as the reciprocal of the ISO you're using and an aperature of f/11 for a full moon, f/5.6 for less than full. Does that fit your obviously successful exposure?

the 2x converter i used is an old komura manual one.. it has telemore95 111 seven element written on it.. it came off ebay for £15.. a bit of an unknown..

iso 400.. F8 at 1/250.. knock off two F-stops for the converter loss and we are talking F16..

handheld and a doorfame.. put end of lens against doorframe.. locate moon.. manually focus and press shutter.. he he he

have two dozen goes and select the best one.. some work some dont.. under expose way more than u think..

that one is remarkable in the sense it passes muster when viewed at 100% full size.. a credit to camera.. lens and converter..

i will take a bit of credit thow.. he he

we have clear sky here again tonight.. i will have another go in a couple of hours if it dosnt cloud over..

I'd say you should, my friend. I'm not that steady - maybe owing to a guilty conscience and too many early years playing jazz, fusion and even rock and roll.

Funny how a couple days changes everything in a shot. All great shots, but I like the third one!

its the light hitting from the side.. the detail is shadow.. full frontal or full moon there is no shadow u dont see much detail..

one more if its clear tonight then the "interesting" bits start to disappear..
