My new ride
Lens: Sigma 105mm Macro Camera: K-7 Photo Location: Melton ISO: 100

A showroom photo of my new ride.

A 1979 HK Holden Monaro. 308 cu V8 Supercharged fire breathing monster. Originally made by General Motors Holden the Monaros were developed for racing in Australia. They were never factory fitted with superchargers.

OK wishful thinking, It is in fact a 1/18 scale model given to me by my eldest son. The showroom is the kitchen bench. In truth many years ago I did possess a much lower spec Monaro, a 1970 HG six cylinder 186S model. Although it was not a high performance car, I wish now I still had it.

Hi,

I had an LH L34 Torana that I bought brand new and eventually sold. The only problem would be that if I still had it I would not have a licence because of how well it went and how I used to send it. They were a car, for those of you not conversant with, that Holden built 260 of for our annual Bathurst race, and as a consequence now a collectors item.

Regards.

we can always dream, it's cheaper!

It took me 40 years to finally get a Mustang, but I only get one, so I collect models of the others I'd like to have.

In those early days the cars were in showroom condition for the Bathurst race. The factories had to sell a certain number of these vehicles in the final race configuration to the public in order for the cars to qualify. No further modifications at all were allowed, standard brakes, suspension etc.The GTS Monaro, the GT Falcon on the track was exactly the same car on the street. At one time, the Ford GT Falcon was rated as the fastest 4 door car in the world. In many cases drivers would pick up their race car from the dealership and actually drive it to the course a day or two before the race. Nowadays the cars are highly modified, much quicker and far, far safer.

I have the six Classic Carlectable Chrysler Valiant Charger E38 and E49 R/T race cars. I should pull them out of their boxes and photograph them (to sell).

In the US, we have the same rules for "Stock cars" though the last several decades have see a very liberal definition of the term "stock".
It is interesting to see the separate evolution of the Falcon in Australia, once the Mustang was introduced in the US, the Falcon name was slowly phased out.

That sounds similar to how the TransAm series started out.
