Wet Stingray Fun
Posted By: Workingdog, 06-01-2008, 07:23 PM

Just playing around with the camera after washing the Corvette today. The car can look steel gray to blue depending on the lighting. Trying to bone-up a little before the street rods hit town.

This is the best I can do from a previous session. I like shooting the bits and pieces.

Love 'em. Beautiful car - terrific color. Is that a late '60's or early '70's. Isn't the LT-1 the hot small block of that era?

Engine: 350 cubic inch/370 HP small block
Color: Cortez Silver

The engine was the epitome of small block development for the era, just before the dark ages of the mid-seventies. The color of this car never ceases to amaze me. Well before the color shifting paints of today, it's a real chameleon. You can see it in the photos here.

I well remember the dark ages. I bought a new '75 Camaro with a wide-ratio 4-spd and the LM-1 4-bbl 350 (the first cat converter) - it made a measly 155 HP. Still, it was the hotest setup you could get - but it took over 8 seconds to get to 60 and I doubt that it would have run over 105.

great capture of the details of the car, i think these styles of shots are more artistic than capturing the entire car. the water beading is very nice too.

Nice! My wife and I had a '72 350, automatic, "Orange" in color. Sold it (it was her car) when she was pregnant the 2nd time, and had a very difficult time getting in and out of it, and fitting behind the steering wheel. Sure wish we had kept it.
