To Nothing...
Lens: Pentax DA* 50-135 Camera: Pentax K-30 Photo Location: Ohio ISO: 50

I'm sure some people find techniques like this to be overboard and unnecessary...but I'm fascinated with photoshop and I LOVE trying new stuff like this. I hope you like the effect..

If you'd posted this in Critique, I'd have said that I would like the effect and facial expression to match better. The dissolving effect seems a bit scary to me, like a scifi or horror movie thing, and it goes against the calm facial expression. Maybe I get the wrong impression from the image?


But this isn't critique, so just disregard all of the above.

It was mostly a proof of concept for me. I learned the technique and I really wanted to apply it to a photo that I had available to me. The photo wasn't taken with this in mind. I guess I could say it's a metaphor for becoming one with nature?

It's a super easy technique, IMHO. I just used different brushes than in the video. I used smoke brushes rather than splatter brushes.
