Rallye
Posted By: Maddix, 06-02-2008, 12:22 PM

I just took some photos on a rallye here in Germany. These are just some trys, because I didn't get near enough to take any other lens than my 55-200.

I think I need a press accreditation to get nearer...

just give some comments please

No no no, you don't get the point! You CAN'T shoot sports with Pentax equipment.

When will people ever learn?

By the way... A 911 on a dirt track? Never thought I'd see the day!

I like each and every one of them, but my most favourite would have to be your second shot (Impreza front).

I don' t hink so . I was supprised by the autofocus. It was very accurate with my K10D in AF-C mode.

Great action shots. Well handled. Particularly like the shot with 4 off the ground.

Very nice shots but be careful when posting any moving subjects, you know the never ending mantra "missed opportunity" , and "not fast enough for my kids", well, your shots tell me otherwise. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,

Rene

Great shots Maddix!

When will people ever learn?
When will the confusion end?

It's not "you can't shoot SPORTS with a Pentax!",

it's

"you can't shoot SPORKS with a Pentax!"... with a K... not an T...

(You know, those cheap combo spoon/fork things... every time I try to shoot a photo of one, my K10D locks up and I have to send it back to Pentax for repairs...)

Someone obviously had a typo somewhere and this whole "Pentax can't shoot sports" thing got all out of hand. Of course Pentax can shoot sports. we have ample proof that Pentax can shoot Sports and Maddix's pics are just one more excellent example.

That jump (or "yump" as the Swedes would say, a term that found its way into rallying parlance worlwide) looks like a lot of fun. Bummer about the road sign in the background. Because of the speed of the cars and the differening driving styles and infrequent appearance, rally photography requires a lot of patience. I used to do it a lot in the 80s and 90s (bought my Pentax Z1 specifically for rallying) and found that when I didn't take any shots for a while, my skill level dropped alarmingly!

Nice shots, Maddix, you''ll be challenging Reinhard Klein some day!

Sadly no. The WRC wont take place near zwickau. And unfortunally I'm not a press photographer . I'll try to take shots of the next rally.

Here is one more shot. This time not taken on the dirt track. It was a city track with a dirt part (the airborne porsche is from that track).
