Phillip Island Classic Festival of Motorsport
Photo Location: Phillip Island, Victoria, Australia ISO: 50

Over the last three days, the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit hosted the Classic Festival of Motorsport. This is now the biggest meeting of its type in the Southern Hemisphere and there was some wonderful machinery here - Porsche 962 that competed in the 1988 Le Mans, a host of Brabhams that Sir Jack had either driven, designed or built, Alan Jones' 1980 World Championship winning Williams F1 car, Bugatti, Jaguar ... and the list goes on.
I've attached a few pics, a couple of which I lightened a little, but otherwise, they're straight from the camera. I had a bit of an issue with focus when panning - not sure if its down to shutter speed, the 50-200 Pentax lens I used or, me. Anyway, hope you enjoy a bit of a cross section of the cars that were there.

Music to the ears, ROBEFFY. I think the Porsche 962 and the Williams sounded great, as did the thundering V8 F5000s, Elfin MR7 and over 3.0 litre Touring Cars. Then there was March 73S and the under 3.0 litre Touring Cars. All in all, a great weekend for the senses...

While I love the Formula 1 cars and others, The "Boss 302" really catches my attention. I owned one.

Living near Nashville, TN, the son of the local Ford Dealer and I were good friends. The dealer was able to get his hands on two of the BOSS 302's. I got one and the dealers son got the other one.

I was working at an aircraft manufacturing plant back in those days and still living at home. Took just about all I made to make the payments and buy gas. Premium, of course, at $ .319 per gallon.

Drove the car for about a year and a half then traded it for another car (don't even remember what). Had I had any inkling what that car would be worth 40+ years later, I would have held onto it.

Oh well.
