Would appreciate peoples preference for the 2 images, a small comment on the reason would be appreciated too

i think the flow of the vertical orientation works better and takes you from foreground, down to the lake, up the mountain and into the clouds.

i love sky and i feel that it is cut off in the horizontal orientation, as well as the sides feel cut off in the horizontal shot.

are these HDR?

I am gonna go with the landscape version. I like the "wide open" look of it, and think the trails on either side of the lake really make the photo, they are heading to the mountain, and draw me to it....Also am a huge fan of blue skies with puffy white clouds, and there are more of 'em in the landcape version.

For some reason landscape just works out for landscapes.

i like the portrait of the landscape

To me, the portrait orientation just seems to have a better flow and balance to it. The landscape orientation has just a tad bit too much foreground, and not enough sky.
