Aye ferocious wee beasts we get them here, not always good news when you keep chickens.

Great shots of the elusive Pine Marten. Closest I ever came was a pix I took, of a Pine Marten 'blur' in long grass....as it was trying to get a woodchuck on a wooden farm fence post.

How did you come across this denizen of the forest ?

I particularly # 1...you nailed the focus through the tree branches.

Really awesome! I have not seen one of them yet!

I like the bokeh on the shots in the trees, perfect.

Glad you took the time just to shoot these critters. Nice job. I really like the contrast that comes in the second image where you don't have any branches or twigs.

We don't keep chickens or have a compost pile , or a garden or anything that might inspire bears to visit us.

For some reason 4 of them have taken up near the Algonquin park's Mew Lake campground, near the garbage bins. Normally they are very elusive, these guys while not tame are quite used to humans being around, and putting stuff in the bins that they might want to sample. You gotta love those small K-3 AF points. They don't make it easy, but they make it possible.

Those tree shots were tough. They tend to stay on the other side of the tree from where you are, and just poke their heads around.

I keep asking them, "can you just move over a few inches so that branch isn't in the way." Make note, Pine Martins are really poor at taking instruction.

You probably have them, they are in most of Quebec. They do like the mature pine forests though...

They are habituated park animals Audiobomber, come down tomorrow and I'll get you this close. Most of these were taken from probably 10-12 feet away, 20 at most....
