the ubiquitous Magpie, so common 'round these parts, I love their "Magpie song" early morning & evening, so homely & relaxing

nice shot there CC, when in Colorado last year I saw a few but couldn't get a good photo. This is very nice, they seem to flit around quite a bit.

Thank you Bob, I've just been having a bit of a look on Google, I think your magpies are a different species over there, ours don't usually flit about much, rather more likely to stand their ground and give you a look like " come closed if you dare"

We have them too, although not so thrilled with their 'song'....
One of our best summed them up quite well....

I've not heard that before, thanks for sharing it. I guess the sound means different things to different people. To me it always takes me back to days past, sitting on the veranda of my parents place in the bush, after a long hot day, the sun going down, the company good, the beer cold and magpies echoing through the valley.
cheers

Actually looking into the photo a bit more you have over come the lighting challenge very well. A nice shot. From past experience if you feed the local magpie they won't attack during breeding season. They become quite friendly. And yes a lively Australian song they sing.
