My Big Chicken!
Lens: Bigma 50-500 Camera: K5IIa Photo Location: Woods of Otis - Texas ISO: 1600 Shutter Speed: 1/200s Aperture: F6.7
Posted By: Rupert, 03-30-2015, 08:36 AM

He showed up late last week and is still hanging around. He's like a little puppy and follows my every step when I go outside. I have no idea where he came from, or how long he will stay, but he is kind of neat! Otis loves him.....he's run off several stray cats that come around..apparently he has a real hatred for cats. When he goes after one you can hear him for blocks, he gets really angry at the sight of a cat.

Patrolling the fence line...looking for cats!

Regards!

Your rooster is awesome. Glad he's keeping the army of Otis safe from the big, bad cats.

Think he needs a name?
I think of him as "King of the Farm Chicken", or King for short.
oh wait, that's also "KFC" ;-)

I never had a chicken....this big guy is pretty neat! You should hear him when the sun comes up...awesome crowing! He follows me everywhere and although I feed him some chicken scratch (grain/cracked corn) his favorite seems to be oatmeal. He's no trouble at all, he just roams around the yard patrolling and pecking at the ground. I kind of like this big chicken!

I don't have a doggie...maybe I can teach him how to shake hands?
Regards!

You may have to find him some lady friends, the eggs would be a bonus.

Jim, you're a lucky man. You've met Mrs Parallax, so you know how unreasonable and mean she is. I've asked her on MANY occasions if I could have a pet chicken, goose, swan, etc. The answer is always the same: "Okay, but it has to live outside". Pft!

Maybe you can adopt Rupert's rooster (Hey, that has a nice ring to it!); Rupert's Rooster!

If you adopt it, schedule visitation rights.

I guess now Rupert has something to crow about. You are going to have to start applying for permits to be able to keep your menagerie.

Thanks to all! I never had a chicken, and I failed to mention that this is no ordinary chicken...he can stand on one leg and pretend to be a Flamingo! Almost fooled me...you too?

He is a pretty neat chicken, when I leave for town and come home, he is on the doorstep waiting for me. I guess he really likes that Velveeta!

Best Regards!
