Snake in the Car
Lens: DA* 60-250/F4 Camera: K-3 ISO: 50

We've had "Snakes on a Plane". Now it's time for "Snake in the Car".

Well, actually in the engine compartment. I had the bonnet up and was trickle-charging the battery. When I came back a few hours later I saw this:

Now there's an unexpected thing to come through your A/C vents. I'll never complain about spiders in the cabin again.

I was a bit gutless here. I chose the 60-250 lens. I should have got a bit more "up close & personal" with the 100/F2.8 Macro.

Just imaging shooting this guy with a 50/F2.8 Macro!

What snake is it? I have not seen one like it before, in a picture or a zoo or anywhere.

I think it was a green tree snake. If so, non-venomous.

Common Tree Snake

There's no doubt that there's a photographer in the house

There's a snake in the engine bay and the immediate reaction is to set up the camera!

Note to self, if I lived there... chop down all local trees.

The old green tree snake. Generally harmless. When we lived in Gympie (South East Queensland) we had a neighbor who was absolutely terrified of snakes. It so happened one day he was bitten by one of these non venomous creatures. He very nearly died of shock and had to be hospitalized for quite some time.

Nice photos. They are an attractive snake. When they are alarmed I have seen them sort of flex and show white edges on the scales. Must be something to startle a potential predator. I have had a spotted python in my dingo trap box (pic after the traps were carefully removed; they are not poisonous but they are aggressive).

Looks like you may have disturbed the warmth he was getting from your engine. He is a beautiful creature.
