Nature A Spring surprise

About a week ago while doing some spring yard cleaning found this nesting on the back end of our lot.

She will be well protected by us but I'm concerned when she has to lead her chicks over two roads and a city block to get to the nearest pond.
We have good people in our neighborhood so I don't think the mother will have much to worry about.

The nest is about 50 or 60 feet from our house.
Taken from our back deck with a Sigma 18-250mm at 250mm and cropped a bit.

Congrats on the upcoming event. That will be fun to watch. We saw two ducks in our neighborhood the other day being escorted out by a cat. Didn't have time to grab the camera. We have no idea where they came from or where they were going. No real close lakes. It was funny to watch though.
