After the Storm
Lens: FA 31, FA 77 and DA 55-300 Camera: K-3 Photo Location: Our Backyard
Posted By: Sailor, 04-15-2015, 01:53 PM

When we moved from Michigan to Texas we purposely had our house built on a lot populated with a majestic live oak and several pecan and other trees. It's a decision I began to regret shortly after moving in; the oak is constantly dropping something (leaves, pollen tassels, asps), and the other trees also joyfully contribute to the detritus that makes our yard a high-maintenance item. Yesterday, a severe storm gave us a bigger headache, by bringing down a large hackberry (reputedly worthless), a huge oak limb and scores of other small lens and junk. The yard is being cleared as I write this, which will cost me about 600 bucks.

Here are some photos taken shortly after the storm.

damn, you must of had some very high winds to do that much damage. $600 is a lot of Bud Lite bucks lost.

A major cleanup required I would say.

Lucky nothing came down on your house! We had what they called a microburst go through our neighborhood a few years ago. It took down a 50 ft Blue Spruce. The tree fell towards the street just grazing my husbands car. If it had fallen in the opposite direction our home would have been destroyed.

Good to see that Otis made it through the storm. Quite a bit of damage.

That looks nasty Jer. We've been here in Fl 2 weeks now and not a drop of rain or storm.--Capnzap

Thanks, all, for looking and listening to me bellyache!

I just shot this pick after the tree guys finished our yard and that of our neighbors. He actually had more tree damage (which was hidden in the photos above), so his clean up bill was $1200. He's also got a damaged fence, but that's no biggie.

Jer
